Muhammed Metha
Muhammed Metha (Mu Metha) is a Tamil poet and songwriter. He was born in Madurai in 1945. He popularised modern poetry (''Pudukavithai'') in the 1970s and has written more than 30 books, including novels, short stories and essays. His awards include the Bharathidasan Award from the state government of Tamil Nadu. He is also credited with 400 songs for movies.
Metha was a professor for 35 years at Presidency College, Chennai.
